Beyond a Reasonable Doubt…
Oh boy. What are we going to do? I know this is a touchy subject but I feel the need just as everyone else to respond to the NOT GUILTY verdict that was handed to Casey Anthony earlier this week.
I know what you’re going to say. This was injustice, our justice system sucks, how can those 12 jurors be such idiots, we want justice for Caylee. Well, let me put some common sense into you. I AGREE with the jurors!
WTF?! You know what I agree and I’ll tell you why. After closing arguments, jurors are given a set of instructions by the judge. In this case, those instructions were provided by the Honorable Judge Belvin Perry. In case you don’t know what those instructions were, let me provide you a link so you can understand what the instructions were (http://insession.blogs.cnn.com/2011/07/04/jury-instructions-in-the-casey-anthony-trial/).
Ok now that you got a full understanding, you should know that the verdict is correct. As a juror, you must understand that you cannot submit a verdict based on your emotions. You must give a verdict based on the facts. Yes FACTS. Is that so hard to understand? Everyone is soooooooooooo sure Casey did it. I believe she did it BUT I am not 100% sure like everyone else. One, I did not see Casey do it. Did you see Casey do it? If you did, why didn’t you report it during those 31 days??? Casey is a headcase, sociopath, pathological liar. I get that. But to convict someone of murder without proof, evidence; there is no way I can live with myself.
People are under the impression she is guilty because she didn’t report her daughter missing. Go to jail for child negligence. Is that your only belief? Are you serious? There were 7 charges. Capital first-degree murder, 2nd degree murder, and aggrivated child abuse. The other 4 were misdeamoners (lying to cops). Nothing in those charges state child negligence.
Throughout the exhausting three years following this trial, the evidence provided by the prosecution was not enough to convict Casey of murder. Forensic evidence, where’s the DNA? Air samples? The car smells like death? Are you serious? How does one know what death smells like? Each witnesses the prosecution brought in provided different answers. There my friends is what we call reasonable doubt.
Reasonable doubt is a high standard in our justice system. If you have doubt, NOT GUILTY. In a civil case, jurors can say “I believe” and vote with their gut instinct. You CANNOT do this in a criminal case. You must acknowledge the rules given by the judge. The 12 jurors believed Casey killed her daughter. Unfortunately, the prosecution did not provide the facts needed to convict Casey and as a juror you cannot place a verdict on emotions. We want DNA evidence, proof of murder, motives, HARDCORE FACTS that will say, you know what Casey is the murderer. It’s all about FACTS.
Our justice system got this right, the jurors got it right. As much as many people cannot accept it, the jurors got it right.
Clearly I’m Happy and Upset at The Same Time

Yes, Michael Bradley. You do have a point. First off, my congrats to Team USA for making that ferocious comeback. This game had me off the edge of my seats the entire time. But I have to say we were robbed of victory. Can someone please show me the suppose foul from Maurice Edu on the 85th minute that happened to take away the go-ahead goal. I’ve watched the replay over and over numerous times and I still do not see a foul. At first I thought offside. Then I see Bradley was no where near the ball so it’s ok. The entire team was asking the ref why was the goal disallowed. He had no answer. The referee is required after every game to submit the incidents/infractions that has taken placed during the game. He listed foul on Edu. Again, where was the foul?! Look it’s one thing to make a call but make the call the right way. FIFA has emphasize to the entire tournament that any holding to the offense in the box results in a foul and penalty kick. There was alot of fouls in the box but again, the whistle as blown against the wrong team. Bradley, Altidore, Dempsey, nearly all of Team USA was held but the ref calls foul on a player who was in the clear and had not committed any foul on the beautiful volley from Donovan. So it stands, the game ended in a tie and we are left to wonder, why blow that whistle? Wrong timing, ref.

2010 NFL Mock Draft
Well, I figured since the NFL draft is tomorrow night, I’ve decided to do a 1st round mock draft based on who I think should go where and why. I’m no expert. This is assuming no picks traded during the draft. Here we go!
- St. Louis Rams - QB Sam Bradford - The Rams need a QB! Plain and simple. After passing over Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, and Mark Sanchez, the Rams would be stupid enough to pass over this guy. He has that swag about him where I know he’ll be a very successful QB.
- Detroit Lions - DT Ndamukong Suh - I always thought he would be the first pick so in my opinion the Lions got a steal. He is a monster at the line. He has a lot of talent and has great character. Plus the Lions would have two franchise players on their team. Suddenly that 0-16 season two years ago seems like a distant memory.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DT Gerald McCoy - The glory days for the Buccaneers were when they had a very talented defense. Gerald reminds me alot like Warren Sapp. He can stop the run game and get to the QB easily.
- Washington Redskins - T Russell Okung - They got McNabb. Now draft someone to protect his blind side. The best tackle overall in the draft.
- Kansas City Chiefs - S Eric Berry - Here is where it gets confusing for me. There are a number players that could go at this spot. I like Eric Berry here. Definitely an upgrade in a depleted backfield.
- Seattle Seahawks - T Trent Williams - Confusion continues for me. Seahawks can go different ways here since they have two Top 15 picks. I say grab Williams. You could never go wrong with strong offense line.
- Cleveland Browns - T Bryan Bulaga - A month ago, I would’ve put Clausen here. The Browns have many needs. They have Joe Thomas already. Let’s put Bulaga in there also.
- Oakland Raiders - T Bruce Campbell - The Raiders simply do not know how to draft (thank you Mr. Davis). Campbell is a freak on a leash. He fits the mold of the type of players Davis goes gaga over.
- Buffalo Bills - T Anthony Davis - That O-line needs help. Davis is your man.
- Jacksonville Jaguars - DE Derrick Morgan - Not even Governor Christ can change my mind here. Somewhere Aaron Kampman is a very happy man.
- Denver Broncos - WR Dez Bryant - Marshall who? He’s the replacement.
- Miami Dolphins - DT Dan Williams - They got their WR. Their biggest need now is nose tackle. Williams will fit in very nicely.
- San Francisco 49ers - CB Joe Haden - They needed a CB and look who fell into their laps. A dream come true for the 49ers here.
- Seattle Seahawks - RB C.J. Spiller - They got their tackle with pick #6. Now they got their home-run hitter. Huge offensive upgrade with just two picks.
- New York Giants - LB Rolando McClain - Radio City just got very loud. It’s gonna be even louder when the commish says McClain name here. He will definitely make Giants fan forget about Antonio Pierce. Big need for the Giants and they got their #1 target.
- Tennessee Titans - DE Jason Pierre-Paul - The Titans are very good. Now all they need is a pass rusher who can actually take down Peyton Manning.
- San Francisco 49ers - G Mike Iupati - Can this day get any better for the 49ers. First Haden, now Iupati. The best guard in the draft.
- Pittsburgh Steelers - WR Demaryius Thomas - Big Ben needs a playmaker. This is the best one available.
- Atlanta Falcons - TE Jermaine Gresham - Their TE of the future. Tony Gonzalez isn’t getting any younger.
- Houston Texans - S Earl Thomas - How did he get here? Anyway, Earl gets to stay home and upgraded their defense instantly. He can play both S and CB which is the Texans biggest need. This division is getting tougher and tougher to play in.
- Cincinnati Bengals - S Taylor Mays - Safety who’s always looking for the big hit. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
- New England Patriots - LB Brandon Graham - The Patriots LB corpse are getting old. They need to infuse some youth into that system. Graham is your best bet here.
- Green Bay Packers - LB Sergio Kindle - After that playoff game with the Cardinals last year, I would not be surprise if they work on their defense. Kindle is 3-4 outside linebacker. Green Bay defense is 3-4. Perfect match.
- Philadelphia Eagles - C Maukrice Pouncey - No one knows when Jamaal Jackson is returning. Pouncey can take over in the mean time.
- Baltimore Ravens - CB Kareem Jackson - Ray Lewis can’t do everything. Jackson knows how to cover and really surprise a lot of people.
- Arizona Cardinals - LB Jerry Hughes - A need for the Cardinals here. Hughes played DE in college but his speed will be a huge asset for the Cardinals as an outside linebacker. He can blitz and slow down the outside running game with ease.
- Dallas Cowboys - T Charles Brown - Huge void left by Flozell Adams. Brown fills out their biggest need.
- San Diego Chargers - DT Jared Odrick - Drafting based on needs, Odrick will help solidify the front line.
- New York Jets - DE Everson Griffin - Do the Jets even need to draft? They upgraded the team and filled in their needs via trades and free agency. I’m going with Everson Griffin here. He’ll give Ryan another DE who has playmaking abilities.
- Minnesota Vikings - QB Jimmy Clausen - Poor Jimmy. How one team can change everything for you. Start preparing, Favre should be gone soon. Plus, wouldn’t it be easier knowing you’ll be handing the ball off to AP?
- Indianapolis Colts - T Rodger Saffold - More protection for Peyton. Maybe they can run the ball more and gain some actual yardage.
- New Orleans Saints - LB Daryl Washington - The defending champions has alot of holes to fill. The players got their rings and left. They need a replacement for Fujita. Washington is their guy.
There you have it. Pick 1 to 32. Will it turn out like this? I doubt it but in this crazy world, anything can happen. :)
